Citing a year of growth, change and literary accolades, science fiction and fantasy publisher Tom Doherty announced a restructuring and leadership changes at Tom Doherty Associates and its Tor Books and Forge imprints.

Fritz Foy, formerly senior v-p of strategic technology at Macmillan and publisher of Tor.com, will join Tom Doherty Associates as president and publisher, succeeding Doherty, who is stepping down from his role leading the company.

Foy will report to Doherty, who will take on the role of chairman at Tom Doherty Associates. Foy divides his time between Santa Monica and New York City.

As part of this restructuring at Tor, effective immediately, Devi Pillai, previously Tor Books associate publisher, has been named v-p and publisher of Tor Books, reporting to Foy. Patrick Nielsen Hayden, associate publisher Tor Books, will add the roles of v-p and editor-in-chief of Tor Books. Kathleen Doherty, publisher of Tor Teen/Starscape, has been promoted to vice-president. Irene Gallo will continue her role as creative director of Tom Doherty Associates while adding the additional responsibility of publisher of Tor.com, the company’s online science-fiction and fantasy journal and web community.

In addition to the aforementioned personel changes, Linda Quinton, v-p and publisher of Forge Books; and Lucille Rettino, v-p of marketing and publicity at Tom Doherty Associates, will begin reporting to Foy.
