As publishing entered the 21st century, PW interviewed Jason Epstein to discuss some of the ideas in his then-new, aptly titled book, Book Business. Epstein, a former Random House editor and publishing entrepreneur, died earlier this month. In looking into the future, he got a few things right and a few things wrong. Thankfully, among his off-the-mark forecasts was the prediction that bookstores would largely disappear.
