Random House is teaming with Kathy Patrick, founder of the Pulpwood Queens Book Club and owner of the Texas hair salon/bookstore Beauty and the Book to launch an online book club talk show featuring interviews with Random authors. Avideh Bashirrad, director of marketing for the Random House Publishing Group, said they created the show in response to increased demand for digital content from book clubs.

The debut season’s 12 episodes, each about 11 minutes long, include interviews Patrick conducted either in person or via Skype with Pat Conroy, Fannie Flagg, Lisa See, Susan Vreeland, and others.

Patrick’s Pulpwood Queens Book Club has more than 3,500 members in 400 chapters across the country. Patrick is the author of The Pulpwood Queens' Tiara-Wearing, Book-Sharing Guide to Life, which, notably, was not published by Random, but rather by Grand Central. Bashirrad said, “Kathy Patrick was our ideal choice for the partnership since she has been an advocate of our books for many years.”

A three-episode screening of the talk show took place at Pulpwood Queens’ book club convention, Girlfriend Weekend, January 13 to 16 in Jefferson, Tex. A new episode will debut each week on the show website, www.beautyandthebookshow.com.
