Christian Book Services, an independent publishing company based in Franklin, Tenn., has promoted Shane Crabtree from manager to president and COO, effective January 1.

Former president Larry Carpenter will remain CEO of the company, while assuming the role of chairman. Christian Book Services, which is comprised of imprints Carpenter Sons and Clovercroft, specializes in what it calls "custom publishing," or contracting authors who fund the production of their books.

Crabtree joined the company in 2018, coordinating product set-up, data dissemination, sales reporting, and book production, as well as helping to launch the its audiobook line. In his new role, Crabtree will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all book production, printing, sales, and distribution.

"Shane has made a huge contribution to our company," Carpenter said in a statement. "He loves the process of finding good books, working with our authors on the production of the books, getting the books printed, and working with our exclusive distributor, Ingram, to get the books sold and distributed."
