Life on the desert island won't be so boring after all. We asked you this week which three authors are your desert island picks, whose collected works would help you pass the endless days until rescue.

You have spoken! There were lots of responses, but three authors got more votes than any other. The books you will be bringing are:

The Collected Works of William Shakespeare
The Complete Novels of Jane Austen
And all the books of Stephen King

King's works will by far take up the most shelf space, so make sure you fashion your hut of strong bamboo, add a couple of built in bookshelves, and don't store your bananas anywhere near the books or you'll find your copy of Cujo up a tree somewhere, the thieving island monkeys scared out of their wits.

Close runners-up include The Bible, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, and Joyce Carol Oates.

Is it any wonder that great storytellers won out? What better way to deal with being trapped on an island than escape?
