Last night (Monday, July 9) at the annual Guideposts dinner at the International Christian Retail Show in Atlanta, new president Dick Hopple and Jonathan Merkh, just named v-p of the company’s book publishing division, made their debuts. In her remarks before dinner, publisher and editor-in-chief Marilyn Moore told the assembled guests, “There have been a lot of rumors, so I want to put those to rest. I’m not retiring. To me that means shy, withdrawn, staying in the house—and that’s not me. But I will be stepping out.” Moore has been associated with Guideposts for 30 years, and she said that she would “remain close to Guideposts Books and do other things” in the next phase of her life.

Hopple lauded Moore’s contributions to the company and noted that Guideposts “is a database business, with more than 31 million people in that database. We are going to be increasing our investments in the core business and in the properties we license.” Merkh said, “I used to be a guest here each year, just like you. I’m looking forward to having a new kind of publishing experience with Guideposts.”
