Providing more evidence that there soon will be an iPhone application for everything, New York independent Hippocrene Books, which has been publishing foreign language dictionaries for 35 years, has launched an iPhone app, HippArabic. It is based on the house’s bestselling Arabic Dictionary & Phrasebook and has more than 4,000 entries.

Features include a phonetic guide; a display function that shows words in native Arabic script; customizable entries so users can create phrases they use often; a pronunciation key; a basic Arabic grammar section; and a search function. The app is a fully downloaded file, so users can access the app without needing to be connected to the Internet or a wireless network.

HippArabic is available at the iTunes App Store for $7.99.
