A fast-growing publishing company is seeking a self-motivated, innovative, and market-savvy Acquisitions Editor to solicit, evaluate, and acquire books/e-books within various areas of engineering.

Applicants should have a minimum of five years relevant acquisitions experience or three years relevant acquisitions experience and prior relevant sales or marketing experience. An important consideration will be the relationships he/she can bring with them to the position and knowledge of sales, marketing, and distribution channels including professional associations, organizations, and academic institutions with volume sales potential. Ability to perform effectively with minimal supervision, an entrepreneurial approach to publishing, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are a must. Experience in non-traditional formats and digital publishing is a plus.

Responsibilities:

-- Identify and research new trends and viable opportunities for the development and successful sale of engineering books/e-books, solicit written book proposals from qualified authors, evaluate book sales potential, run P&Ls, and negotiate and close author agreements
-- Attend conferences and events to gain ideas for new books and author prospects and to help develop viable sales and marketing relationships
-- Participate in the design of sales and targeted marketing plans
-- Manage manuscript quality and delivery and perform some edits as needed to prepare manuscripts for transmittal into production
-- Work with production staff to help ensure the highest-quality finished product possible

This is a truly unique opportunity with the ability to work remotely should the right candidate present themselves. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
