ALA Condemns FCC Vote to End Net Neutrality

Following the Federal Communications Commission's 3-2 vote along party lines to end net neutrality, American Library Association president Jim Neal has released a statement condemning the move.

“The majority of the FCC has just dealt a blow to equitable access to online information and services which puts libraries, our patrons, and America’s communities at risk,” Neal said. “By rolling back essential and enforceable net neutrality protections, the FCC has enabled commercial interests at the expense of the public who depends on the internet as their primary means of information gathering, learning, and communication. We will continue to fight the FCC’s decision and advocate for strong, enforceable net neutrality protections.”
