Believer Festival Adds Jenkins, Nancherla
The Believer Festival has added Academy Award–winning director Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) and comedian Aparna Nancherla (HBO’s Crashing and Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer) to a line-up that includes which includes Jericho Brown, Thi Bui, Zinzi Clemmons, Dave Eggers, Mohsin Hamid, John Hodgman, Nick Hornby, Leslie Jamison, Morgan Jerkins, Tayari Jones, Heidi Julavits, Rachel Kushner, Ayelet Waldman, Meg Wolitzer, and more. The Los Angeles arts collective, The Metabolic Studio, will also be featured.
The festival, billed as "a two-day roving celebration of writing, music, and visual arts," is held by the 'Believer' magazine and its parent company, the Black Mountain Institute, "in the heart of the desert of southern Nevada," where "established and emerging artists, comedians, literary luminaries, and the Las Vegas arts community come together and divine a creative oasis." The Believer, previously published by McSweeney’s, was acquired in March 2017 by BMI, the international literary center at University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
