PRH Brings Back Holiday Hotline, Partners with WNDB
Penguin Random House will bring back its annual holiday gift-giving book recommendation service, the Penguin Hotline, for a seventh season this year, beginning December 2. Users who write into the hotline website with details about the intended recipient will receive customized, publisher-agnostic book recommendations from a Penguin Random House employee or author volunteer in a matter of days. A few users will be randomly selected for a “golden ticket,” which will get them recommendations from a bestselling author.
This year, the Penguin Hotline has partnered with the book business diversity nonprofit We Need Diverse Books; every consumer request received by the Hotline will automatically generate a $2 donation to the organization up to a maximum of $10,000. Additionally, the We Need Diverse Books team will share its own book recommendation lists with the Penguin Hotline volunteers for inspiration as they answer tickets.
