Knopf Announces New Book from Adichie

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, author of the bestseller Americanah, will release her next work, Notes on Grief, on May 11. Knopf, the book's publisher, said the title is "a work of meditation, remembrance, and hope, written in the wake of her father’s death." U.S rights were acquired from Sarah Chalfant of the Wylie Agency. Knopf publisher Reagan Arthur will edit the book.

Expanded from an essay the author wrote for the New Yorker, the book, Knopf went on, spotlights how the loss of her father—who died last year from complications related to kidney failure—made her "one of the millions of people grieving this year." It is also, the publisher said, about "about the familial and cultural dimensions of grief" and "the loneliness and anger that accompany it."
