Egyptian Book Fairs to Go Ahead In-Person

The government of Egypt has given the permission for two large book fairs to take place in person. The first will be the Alexandria Book Fair, scheduled to be held March 25 to April 3. The Cairo International Book Fair -- the largest in the region, which typically takes place in January -- will then be held in June 30 to July 15.

Inès Abdel Daïm, Egypt's minister of culture requested a special exception to hold the events, noting that they are typically held outdoors in open venues and are vital for the promotion of culture.
