New Prize Honors North American Small Presses

The Republic of Consciousness Prize for Small Presses, which was founded in the U.K. in 2017, is launching in the U.S. The prize is aimed at small presses that produce books of "high literary merit." The prize, initially created by U.K. author Neil Griffiths, has awarded more than £60,000 to support small presses. Here in North America, the prize is open to small publishers in the U.S. and Canada. It is being administered by Lori Feathers, book critic and co-owner of Interabang Books in Dallas, TX. The prize will divide prize money, a sum of which is still to be determined, among a long list of ten, with additional sums going to shortlisted publishers and the winner.
