Academy of American Poets Adds New Chancellors

The Academy of American Poets has named Gabrielle Calvocoressi and Cornelius Eady as chancellors of the Academy. Originally established in 1946, the Board of Chancellors is composed of 15 poets who “advise the Academy on artistic matters, judge its largest legacy prizes, and serve as ambassadors of poetry,” per the organization.

Calvocoressi and Eady were elected by members of the 2025 Board of Chancellors: Jericho Brown, Natalie Diaz, Nikky Finney, Carolyn Forché, Kimiko Hahn, Ilya Kaminsky, Dorianne Laux, Ada Limón, Ed Roberson, Diane Seuss, Patricia Smith, Tracy K. Smith, Afaa Michael Weaver, Eleanor Wilner, and Kevin Young.

Both Calvocoressi and Eady will serve a six-year term.
