9 Steps Plus 1
Daisy Maryles -- 4/13/98
Suze Orman's new hardcover bestseller, The 9 Steps to Financial Freedom, continues to lead many bestseller lists across the country. Publisher Crown now boasts 19 trips to press, bringing the in-print total to 582,000 copies. Meanwhile, the 1995 book that launched the bestselling author, You've Earned It, Don't Lose it: Mistakes You Can't Afford to Make When You Retire, benefited from the March nationwide PBS-TV special on 9 Steps as well as from Orman's two Oprah appearances. Sales for a single week at the end of March, according to publisher Newmarket Press, reached 10,000 copies. When Newmarket published its Orman book, the initial printing was 7000 copies. Three years later, copies in print total 250,000 and the book is showing up on business bestseller lists. All this adds up to enough activity for Newmarket publisher Esther Margolis to push the reprint button again, for a new 20,000-copy, 16th printing.
