Karen Rinaldi, most recently a senior editor at Crown, has been named editorial director of Bloomsbury USA, where she will develop a list for American readers.

Bloomsbury USA, an outpost of the distinguished London press, was launched here last year by Alan Wherry, one of its founding members. Rinaldi, who starts at the beginning of February, will join marketing director Lisa Gallagher in the New York office. She said she looked forward to helping make Bloomsbury "as strong a presence in the U.S. as it is worldwide." She will look for titles appropriate to the American market and also with international sales possibilities, and will co-publish titles with Bloomsbury UK where appropriate. Among the authors she has worked with are Colin Harrison, Michael Moore and Joni Mitchell.

Bloomsbury USA titles are sold and distributed by St. Martin's Press.
