It's only the second week in March, and the very prolific Nora Roberts has placed her fourth 2003 book on the national charts, Portrait in Death, under her alias J.D. Robb. Berkley launched the book with a 1,125,000-copy printing. It hit PW's mass market list in the #2 spot, unable to unseat the long-running Avon bestseller, Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (263 weeks so far). Kudos also to Jove, for its first bestseller by Christine Feehan, Dark Symphony. While the author has written many well-reviewed vampire titles, this is her first bestseller landing; she made it to #7 with the latest addition to her Dark series.
