A new children's book award will be announced at this year's Jerusalem International Book Fair (June 23-27), the Trudi Birger Prize for the Best Book for Children. It will be given to an author or author/illustrator that inspires readers to selfless devotion to the community. Birger was a Holocaust survivor who dedicated her life to the children and families of Israel until her death in 2002. The winner will receive a cash prize of $2,000 as well as a sculpture.
