The story of a high school basketball coach whose winning team helped turn around a failing Catholic school will be told in a book just bought for Putnam's Gotham imprint by Brendan Cahill. The Miracle of St. Anthony: A Season with Bob Hurley and Basketball's Most Improbable Dynasty will be written by award-winning sports journalist Adrian Wojnarowski of the Bergen County [N.J.] Record, in whose area the Jersey City school is located. Coach Hurley, who guided the team to a win in a national tournament this summer, and seems likely to bring them a state championship next spring, is cooperating with the writer, and so are the sisters who run the struggling school. Cahill preempted the book for North American rights from agent Greg Dinkin of Venture Literary and will publish in spring 2005.
