Another show business luminary who goes back a good way is comic Phyllis Diller, also about to deliver a memoir. This one, won at a recent auction by Terri Hennessy at Penguin/Tarcher, has the beguiling title Like a Lampshade in a Whorehouse: My Story and is scheduled for publication in spring 2005, around the same time as a movie about Diller's early career. The North American rights sale was made by agent Linda Conner. The book will naturally have its share of laughs but also some dark spots about the star's two difficult marriages and her schizophrenic daughter.
