Elizabeth Sheinkman at the Elaine Markson agency recently set up a branch office in London (see our British report) and has already begun making deals for U.S. properties with U.K. publishers. So far she has sold a memoir by Indian film director Mira Nair (Nan Talese here) to Transworld/Doubleday; made a new deal for Plum Sykes (Bergdorf Blondes), published by Miramax here, Viking in the U.K.; and is looking for a new London publisher for Craig Unger's House of Bush, House of Saud, a Scribner title here that was canceled in the U.K. as a result of libel fears.
