The sometimes choleric and always colorful co-chairman (with brother Bob) of Miramax Films has signed with HarperCollins head Jane Friedman to write a memoir that will tell the story not only of the brothers' family background in Queens, N.Y., but also of the rise of Miramax to become one of the hottest and most controversial Hollywood studios. Friedman signed for North American and U.K. rights in the untitled book with agent Jennifer Rudolph Walsh at William Morris. The book will be edited by executive editor David Hirshey for publication by all Harper's English-language branches in 2006.
