To provide a detailed picture of the state of academic publishing in what has been a challenging year, PW assembled multiple voices at four “round tables” for editors, marketing execs, reference editors and agents. Editors spoke about cuts and caution; agents spoke about larger platforms and smaller advances; reference specialists spoke about their evolving relationship with digital media; marketing execs said there were too many challenges to count. Taken together, these perspectives offer a nuanced, crowdsourced view, a panel discussion in print with something for everyone with a stake in academic publishing. All the discussions are compiled by Jana Riess.
