Publishers Weekly has made two additions in our commitment to covering library issues—the launch of a dedicated library landing page at PublishersWeekly.com, and the addition of Peter Brantley, who joins PW as a contributing editor and blogger.

Brantley is the director of the Internet Archive’s Bookserver Project, a not-for-profit digital library, and a former director of the Digital Library Federation. He is also the founder and moderator of the Read 2.0 listserv, which brings together a range of stakeholders and thinkers in the book business to discuss the headlines and issues of the day.

In his new role, Brantley will blog regularly on PWxyz and will help assemble noteworthy library-related news, opinions, and information from around the Web for the PW audience. He will also contribute columns for the magazine. “I’m honored and delighted to be joining the PW team,” Brantley said. “I look forward to encouraging a collaborative discussion between libraries and publishers that can help us enhance access to more literature, for more readers, than ever before.”

Brantley joins Seattle librarian Nancy Pearl on the expanding PW library team. Pearl’s Check It Out! column runs monthly. Brantley’s first contribution to the magazine is today’s Soapbox, Defining 'Library'.

PW’s coverage of libraries will continue to be found throughout the magazine and on the Web site, including in our news and features, as well as in our annual ALA and ALA Midwinter preview issues. The addition of the library landing page, which is live today, offers easy reference and access to our library-related coverage, via a “Libraries” tab on the PublishersWeekly.com navigation bar.

We look forward to your feedback in the coming weeks as the landing page gets going and evolves.
