This month, Michelle Argyle at Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of My Dearest Bea, edited by Peyton H. Roberts.

Design Note 1: Subtle details can be fun to try. I added a faded image of Bea’s face onto the background since the letters are all addressed to her.

Design Note 2: The original cover was dark and hard to read. I kept the background light and used red to really brighten it up.

Design Note 3: Adding a photograph of a trumpet mixed with musical note illustrations creates a playful vibe and says a lot about the author of the love letters.

Design Note 4: I loved the idea of using real-life photos of the letters provided by the editor. Adding a personal touch can make a cover more interesting.
