Madeline McIntosh is returning to Random House in a newly created high level post in which she will report directly to CEO Markus Dohle. Beginning December 1, McIntosh will become president of sales, operations, and digital, with the heads of those different areas reporting to her. Among those reporting directly to McIntosh are Andrew Weber, senior v-p, operations & technology; Jaci Updike, senior v-p, director, Random House Adult Sales; Joan DeMayo, senior v-p, director, Children’s Sales, director, Special Markets Sales; and Bonnie Ammer, executive v-p, International Sales.

After spending 14 years with Random in a variety of roles, McIntosh joined Amazon about 18 months ago as director of Kindle Content Acquisition for Europe from an office in Luxembourg. While at Random, McIntosh held a number of different sales positions and was publisher of the audio division before joining Amazon. In announcing McIntosh’s appointment, Dohle noted that, “unifying our physical and digital sales efforts for our adult, children’s, and international titles, distribution, publishing operations, IT, and our corporate digital-publishing capabilities in an interconnected team under a single leader is a key step in building our future success.”

In addition to her U.S. duties, McIntosh will join the RH international executive board where she will help develop the company’s worldwide digital strategy
