This month, Michelle Argyle at Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of The Story You Tell Yourself by Lisa Attanasio. To submit a book for a free cover redesign, email us at booklifeeditor@booklife.com.

Design Note 1: The main thing I wanted to change was to make it clear that this book is a collection of short stories. This helps attract the correct audience.

Design Note 2: Using a painting reminiscent of Vincent van Gogh lends an artistic, more literary feel to the cover.

Design Note 3: I chose a font that feels handwritten. These types of fonts can help a cover feel more approachable and inviting.

Design Note 4: The white box behind the text helps the text stand out against an otherwise busy background. I created a small amount of transparency so it is not so stark.
