HarperCollins Signs Peter Lerangis to Seven-Book Deal
HarperCollins Children's Books has bought Seven Wonders, a seven-book middle-grade adventure series by Peter Lerangis, author of three books in Scholastic’s bestselling The 39 Clues series. The first book, The Colossus Rises, goes on sale February 5, 2013, with six more novels to follow every nine months.

Two of a Kind
In February of this year, Neal Porter, editorial director of Neal Porter Books at Roaring Brook Press, was in an editorial meeting discussing various titles on the fall list when someone brought in the PW starred review of Z Is for Moose, a March 2012 picture book by Kelly Bingham, illustrated by Paul O. Zelinsky (Greenwillow). The book features an overzealous moose eager to jump into the alphabet lineup before his appropriate turn, and a very organized zebra who wants to keep things in order. “It was a great review,” Porter recalls. “And... it sounded sorta, kinda close to the premise of my book.”

Series Watch: The Unwind Trilogy
On August 28, Simon & Schuster released UnWholly by Neal Shusterman, the second volume in a dystopian trilogy begun with 2007's Unwind, about teenagers on the run in a world in which their organs can be harvested and "donated" to other people. According to Nielsen BookScan, UnWholly racked up 6,094 copies in sales overall in its first week on sale.
