    Rana DiOrio, a former investment banker in San Francisco, sought to publish a series of picture books relating meaningful, complex concepts to children, and to do it in the most environmentally sustainable way possible. "I got laughed at," says DiOrio. So she assembled an advisory board and formed her own publishing company.

  • Seven Stories Creates Children's Imprint

    This fall, Seven Stories Press, which in the past has published one-off books for kids, is gathering four new titles together under its first children’s imprint, Triangle Square Editions.

  • DreamWorks Animation to Buy Classic Media

    DreamWorks Animation, the studio responsible for the Madagascar and Shrek film series, has agreed to acquire Classic Media, owner of vintage and new entertainment properties including Rocky & Bullwinkle, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and VeggieTales, for $155 million.

World Book, Inc., headquartered in Chicago since 1917, is moving forward by referring back to its origins as a consumer-based company. It is launching a new children’s trade book publishing company while continuing to serve the institutional market it has moved into in recent years.

    Writers House agent Kenneth Wright is moving back to the publishing side of the business. Wright is joining Viking Children's Books as v-p and publisher where he will handle strategy and editorial direction, reporting to Don Weisberg.
