Peter Collingridge, cofounder of the digital publishing firms Apt Studio and Enhanced Editions, in addition to Bookseer, a book marketing analytics technology, has been hired as v-p of product development at Safari Book Online, an on-demand subscription service offering online access to a library of technology and business titles.
Collingridge will be responsible for defining and executing product strategy for Safari Books Online. He will lead a global product development team as well as sit on the company’s executive committee. Safari Books Online is a joint venture between O’Reilly Media and Pearson.
Collingridge began his career in publishing at the U.K. publishing house Canongate Books in 1997 and was instrumental in transitioning the house into digital publishing ventures. Long regarded as digital visionary on the U.K. scene, Collingridge founded Apt Studio in 2005, a strategic firm specializing in consulting with publishers about digital technology. In 2008 he cofounded the app development company Enhanced Editions before launching Bookseer in 2011. Cofounded with technologist Stephen Betts, Bookseer is a technology application that can capture data and provide critical information to publishers on the success or efficacy of its marketing and promotional campaigns. Collingridge’s appointment will not affect Bookseer operations, which will continue to managed by Betts.
