As announced in October during the Frankfurt Book Fair last year, Ciudad de Libros/Open Road Español, the global Spanish-language e-book venture formed by Open Road Media and Barcelona Digital Editions, has released its first 40 e-books. An additional 200 titles will be published this year as well, including Sophie's Choice, by William Styron, which was the first e-book published by Open Road Integrated Media in May 2010.

CdL is backing the launch with marketing in Spain and Latin America while Open Road is doing marketing in the U.S., Canada and the rest of the world. Promotion efforts include a full social media campaign, using Open Road’s proprietary marketing platform, on Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler and Pinterest with viral messaging to Hispanic and Latino readers; co-promotions with Spanish lifestyle sites; outreach to Spanish–speaking communities in bookstores, libraries, community centers; bilingual ebook gifting promotions; and targeted advertising to the trade and consumers. Select video profiles will also be introduced to the Spanish audience.
