With Scribd’s book subscription service now a year old, the company has released a series of factoid’s to mark the occasion. Since the launch, Scribd reported that subscribers have read 1 billion pages and spent 17.6 million hours reading. The most opened categories were romance, mind/body/spirit, and business, while the top three categories where books have been finished were romance, fiction, and children’s/young adult. The Alchemist was the most popular book in the year, followed by Arranged, Devil in Winter, The Selection and Sh*t My Dad Says.

According to Scribd, the most highlighted book in the year was Wine for Dummies, and users have bookmarked over 2.5 million pages. To support its growing activities, the number of Scribd employees increased from 25 to 75.
