According to a post on agent and e-book publisher Richard Curtis’ Web site, Fictionwise will close its branded stores by the end of the month. The store-fronts are hosted by Fictionwise and enable customers to view only a publisher’s own titles rather than the list of all e-books sold by Fictionwise. Fictionwise, founded by the Pendergrast brothers, was acquired by Barnes & Noble last year. According to Curtis, publishers have been invited to redirect customer visits and purchases to the main Fictionwise website www.fictionwise.com. Ficitionwise had pages for about 500 publishers, which includes listings of the publisher’s current bestsellers and titles rated highest by fans.
