Simon & Schuster has begun a pilot program aimed at making 450 of its most popular children’s and young adult titles available for use in school classrooms as e-books. The publisher is teaming with school distributors Booksource, Follett, Mackin Educational Resources and Perma-Bound to make the titles available as e-books. According to S&S, each e-book purchased may be used in the classroom for one year from the purchase date, and may only be used by one student at a time.

“We’re pleased to work with these four widely respected and innovative educational distributors in this first important step toward bringing our catalog to students and teachers,” said Michael Selleck, executive v-p, sales and marketing, Simon & Schuster. Among the titles in the pilot are Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type; Out of My Mind; Fahrenheit 451; and Angela’s Ashes.
