Scott Miller, EVP and literary agent at Trident Media Group, died on April 23 in New York. He was 53.
Miller graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English, received his JD from Temple University School of Law, and was admitted to the New York State Bar before beginning his publishing career in the mailroom of the William Morris Agency. In 2000, he became a founding member of the literary agency Trident Media Group, where he represented such authors as W. Bruce Cameron, Mark Greaney, Pam Grier, Lorelei James, Cesar Millan, Joel C. Rosenberg, and Harry Shearer. Miller also moonlighted as a street photographer, and posted his photos on Instagram @streetshootermiller.
"Scott Miller first and foremost was an extraordinary human being," said Trident chairman Robert Gottlieb. "He loved his family. We were friends for over thirty years and joined the Trident at its founding starting as my assistant. He quickly rose up in the firm and the publishing industry. Scott was a fantastic agent who dedicated himself to Trident and his authors every day of his professional career."
Miller is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Alexa and Emma; and a brother, Robb. A memorial is scheduled for Sunday, April 27 at 12:30pm at Temple Sinai in Tenafly, N.J. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group or WXPN radio.
