Jeff Bezos’ wife may not have liked The Everything Store, but the judges in the Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award for 2013 did, choosing it as their book of the year. In presenting the award to author Brad Stone in a ceremony in London, Lionel Barber, editor of the Financial Times and chair of the panel of judges, called The Everything Store, “an inspirational business book which captures the culture of Amazon and the character of its founder Jeff Bezos. A must-read for disrupters around the world."

For his win, Stone received a £30,000 prize. The book is published in the U.S. by Little, Brown and according to Nielsen BookScan has sold 8,984 print copies; BookScan captures about 80% of print sales.

Judges for the award were Vindi Banga, partner, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice; Steve Coll, Dean, School of Journalism at Columbia University, and staff writer, The New Yorker magazine; Lynda Gratton, professor of Managemetates Securities and Exchange Commission; Jorma Ollila,chairman, Royal Dutch Shell; and Shriti Vadera, director of Shriti Vadera Ltd, non-executive director, BHP Billiton and AstraZeneca.
