Patrick Horvath's Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees (IDW Publishing) and Briana Loewinsohn's Raised by Ghosts (Fantagraphics) were among the top winners at the 37th annual Harvey Awards, presented on October 10 at New York Comic Con.
Named after cartoonist and editor Harvey Kurtzman, the Harvey Awards honor the best print, digital, and international graphic works of the year across six categories. Winners were selected by industry professionals, including writers, artists, editors, publishers, comic book retailers, and librarians, via popular vote. The Harvey Awards Steering Committee is co-chaired by Nellie Kurtzman, John Lind, and Chip Mosher.
This year's podium represented a true melange of publishers, most of which, as with this year's Eisner Awards, are indie houses. IDW and Fantagraphics, which took home some of the the highest honors, also dominated at this year's Harveys, and Go Comics beat out digital comics giant Webtoon for the Digital Book category.
