It’s gray, it’s sticky, and most often found buried in a toolbox—it’s duct tape. Well, your father’s duct tape. These days, its utilitarian machine gray has given way to a rainbow of colors and patterns—polka dots, paisley, even leopard. And it’s fashion forward enough that the latest season of Project Runway featured a Duct Tape Prom Dress challenge.

The undisputed queen of trendy duct tape is Richela Fabian Morgan, author of Tape It & Make It, Barron’s fastest selling book of 2012. Today at 2 p.m., Morgan will be taking to the Midtown Stage for the launch of her sequel, Tape It & Make It: 101 Duct Tape Activities (Sept). She’ll be demonstrating some of her favorite projects and crafts from the newest book: a hanging wall decoration, a bowl of tangerines, a set of pig pillows, long earrings and a necklace (look closely, she’ll be wearing them), and an iPad case. All attendees will leave with a copy of her first book, Tape It & Make It, and a roll of duct tape provided by Platypus/Fortis Designs. Following the Midtown Stage, Barron’s will be hosting a meet and greet and autographing with Morgan at its booth (1444–1445).

Throughout BEA, visitors to the Barron’s booth can enter a drawing for the Tape It & Make It Gift Basket filled with books, duct tape, and project supplies.
