AAP is giving away 600 safety ducks, which change color in water over 100 degrees to alert parents to scald risks.

Fans of Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief will want to drop by the Penguin Random House booth (2121) today for “Kid’s Editor Hour,” 11 a.m.–noon. Knopf senior executive editor Erin Clarke will discuss Zusak’s new novel for the fall, Bridge of Clay (Nov).

Muggle devotees of J.K. Rowling’s celebrated wizard should visit the Insight Editions booth (1648) for a 3-D look at his student digs, Harry Potter: A Pop-Up Guide to Hogwarts (Oct.), featuring art by Kevin Wilson and paper engineering by Matthew Reinhart. Today, 2–3 p.m., Reinhart will be at the booth signing pop-up blads. While you’re there, be sure to take a look at another fall title: Harry Potter: Creatures: A Paper Scene Book (Sept.), a laser die-cut book presented as a multilayered diorama featuring scenes from the Harry Potter movies.
