Book proposals from former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama are making the rounds among the Big Five trade publishers in New York, while a book by one of the Obama administration's highest profile cabinet members has already been acquired.

According to several sources, a book by former Secretary of State John Kerry has been signed, although the winner of the auction has not yet been disclosed. A deal for Michelle Obama's book is said to be close, while an agreement for the former President's book is expected to be completed following the closing of the deal for his wife's book.

Both Obamas, as well as Kerry, are being represented by Washington, D.C., lawyer Bob Barnett, who has brokered book deals for scores of politicians and celebrities.
