Author Rebecca Yarros has inked a two-book deal with Montlake, a romance imprint of Amazon Publishing. Lauren Plude, acquiring editor at Montlake, acquired world rights for two standalone contemporary romance books by Yarros slated for publication in fall 2025 and fall 2026. The deal was brokered by Louise Fury of the Fury Agency.

Montlake previously published Yarros's novel In the Likely Event in August 2023, and has another Yarros book under contract that will be published in September 2024.

Yarros is best known for her Empyrean romantasy series, comprising the books Fourth Wing and Iron Flame, which were published in April and November of this year, respectively, by Red Tower Books, an adult fantasy imprint of Entangled Publishing. Film rights to both books, as well as the three remaining planned books in the series, have been secured by Amazon, which plans to adapt them into a streaming series.

According to outlets that report to Circana Bookscan, Fourth Wing has sold 811,347 copies to date, and a special holiday edition of the novel released this month has sold 240,715 copies in its first week. Iron Flame sold 584,667 copies in its first week on sale, and was the bestselling book overall last week.

The highly anticipated release of Iron Flame was complicated by printing errors, with numerous social media posts showing misprints in copies of the book and a special holiday edition of Fourth Wing. Entangled Publishing swiftly issued an apology and promised to correct the errors.
