Following last year’s auction of signed first editions for St. Mark’s Bookshop in New York City, the Friends of St. Mark’s are stepping up the bookstore’s fundraising efforts with an Indiegogo campaign to pay for the build out of a new space while maintaining inventory levels in its current East Village location.

“Now is the opportunity for a final push as St. Mark’s reinvents itself as a non-profit event space, while continuing to fill the East Village’s niche for a small brick-and-mortar bookstore featuring carefully selected new theoretical, political, art, design, poetry and independent literary texts in traditional print format,” the Friends wrote on the campaign homepage.

In the first few days the campaign has received pledges of just over $2,000 with 55 days left to raise $50,000. Perks range from a $25 gift certificate for Supporters, who donate $25, to a 20% lifetime discount and an annotated $500 book for Heroes, who give $5,000.
