7/22: NY Comics & Picture-story Symposium in New York, NY

A pair of presentations by local female cartoonists are featured in the 53rd NY Comics & Picture-story Symposium, held at Blue stockings bookstore in New York City on Monday, July 22nd at 7 p.m. First up, Meghan Turbitt, creator of one page gag/autobiographical comics including Becoming Kennedy and Lady Turbo and the Terrible Cox Sucker. Then Katie Skelly, creator of Nurse Nurse and the upcoming Operation Margarine will discuss comics in relation to other artistic fields such as advertising, fashion and film. 7/24: Dan Slott Appearance and Signing in New York, NY

Writer Dan Slott (Superior Spider-Man) will be appearing at JHU Comic Books in New York City on Wednesday, July 24th at 6 p.m. Slott’s masterminded one of the most tumultuous eras in the web-slinger’s history, surrounding the events of the bestselling Amazing Spider-Man #700. This event is free to the public, but participants must buy a copy of Superior Spider-Man #14, and signings are limited to five books per person. 7/26: Lecture by Dash Shaw in San Francisco, CA

As part of the Comics in the City lecture series, Brooklyn based cartoonist Dash Shaw (New School, Body World, Bottomless Belly Button) will discuss his work in comics and animation at the Timken Lecture Hall at California College of the Arts’ San Francisco Campus on Friday, July 26th at 6 p.m. Immediately following the lecture, join Shaw for a book signing and after party at Isotope Comics.
