10/4-10/7: GRAPHIC festival in Sydney, Australia

As part of the Sydney Opera House's Contemporary Music program, the 4th-ever GRAPHIC festival is a unique collision of creative figures from various fields including comics, music, and animation. Programming includes in-depth comics workshops, panels and spotlights, as well presentations and special musical engagements provided by the Sydney International Orchestra, and the premiere showing of artist Dave McKean's 9 Lives. Comics guests include Art Spiegelman, Len Wein, Grant Morrison, Gerard Way and Luke Pearson. 10/4-10/6: Dallas Comic Con in Irving, TX

Dallas Comic Con, Texas's biggest pop culture event is kicking off this weekend, October 4th through 6th at the Irving Convention Center in Irving, Texas. Experience a convention worthy of the Lone Star State with a weekend full of comics-related events. Programming includes celebrity meet and greets, cosplay competitions, a massive exhibitor floor, guest panels and Q&As, and more. Comics guests include Stan Lee, Neal Adams, Simon Bisley, Graham Nolan, Bill Sienkiewicz, Kelley Jones, Bernie Wrightson, Steve Niles, Michael Golden and more. General admission single-day tickets range from $25-40 as well as 3-day passes for $60, tickets for children 5-12 are $5 and free for those under 4 and under. 10/5: Jeff Smith RASL Signing in Chicago, IL

Award-winning cartoonist Jeff Smith will be signing copies of the new complete full-color edition of RASL from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th at Chicago Comics in Chicago, IL. Best known for his all-ages series, Bone, Smith has been a unique and influential figure in comics for over two decades, championing independent, creator-owned works with broad appeal. RASL, his latest work, was inspired by the work of renowned scientist Nikola Tesla, and takes a more adult tone as it follows an art thief who jumps between dimensions, but runs into serious, mind-bending trouble. 10/5: Locust Moon Comics Festival in Philadelphia, PA

The second annual Locust Moon Comics Festival, celebrating comics, graphic art, and illustration, will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th at The Rotunda in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With an emphasis on creator-owned works, the festival will hold events such as workshops and panel discussion on the art and business of comics. Attending will be a number of influential and exciting creators including Jim Steranko, Dean Haspiel, J.G. Jones, Todd Klein, Jay Lynch, Farel Dalrymple, Michael Kupperman, Tom Scioli, JT Waldman and more. THis event is free to the public, with a suggested donation at the door, and a portion of the donations will go to benefit the Jack Kirby Museum.
