10/22: Chester Brown in Winnipeg, MB Canada

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Louis Riel: A Comic Strip Biography (Drawn & Quarterly), cartoonist Chester Brown will be signing the book and discussing his work on Tuesday, October 22nd at 7 p.m. at the McNally Robinson Grant Park in Winnipeg, Canada. He'll be discussing his the book and its place in Canadian graphic literature with Candida Rifkind, Associate Professor of English at the University of Winnipeg. The book tells the story of Louis Riel, the founder of the province of Manitoba, as well as a quixotic Canadian political figure who led a rebellion against the government in the mid-19th century. Upon its original publication in 2003, the book and Brown garnered two Harvey awards for best Graphic Album and Best Writer. This event is free to the public. 10/25-10/27: MCM London Comic Con in London, U.K.

MCM, the UK's biggest pop culture/comic convention show takes over London from Friday, October 25th to Sunday, October 27th at the Excel Royal Victoria Dock in London. The show combines comics, movies, memorabilia, gaming and more into a weekend of "fan"-tastic proportions. For comics readers there's the Comic Village, which will host a number of panels and signings from creators including Tim Bradstreet (Punisher), Bernard Chang (X-Men, Supergirl), Sean Chen (Nova), John McCrea (Hitman), Gary Erskine (Dan Dare) and more. 10/25-10/27: Detroit Fanfare Comic Con in Dearborn, MI

Spiritual successor to the Detroit Triple Fan Fair, one of the first multi-media events ever held, the 4th annual Detroit Fanfare Comic Con is being held from Friday, October 25th through Sunday, October 27th at the Adoba Hotel in Dearborn, MI. A plethora of programming is crammed into one weekend including industry and creator panels, cosplay contest, drawing workshops, creator Q&As, portfolio reviews and more. Comic guests include Jeff Smith, Jeffrey Brown, Craig Yoe, John Ostrander, Action Lab, Dirk Manning, Whilce Portacio, Keith Pollard, Eric Powell, Tim Seeley, Ethan Van Sciver and more. Journalist/cartoonist Joe Sacco (Palestine, Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt) will be signing copies of his books, including the recent The Great War: July 1, 1916: The First Day of the Battle of the Somme on Saturday, October 26 from 2-3 p.m. at Gosh! Comics in London. The Great War, a 24-foot long illustration laid out accordion style with an accompanying essay by Adam Hochschild, looks at The Battle of the Somme, an infamous day that has come to represent the prodigious bloodshed and horror of World War I. 10/26: Kurtis J. Wiebe and Fiona Staples in Calgary, AB Canada

Join writer Kurtis J. Wiebe (Peter Panzerfaust) and cover artist Fiona Staples (Saga) for a signing of Rat Queens on Saturday, October 26th from 3-8 p.m. at Alpha Comics in Calgary, Alberta Canada. The series, illustrated by Roc Upchurch (Vescell), which will see its second issue released on Wednesday, is a medieval, monster-bashing comedic actions series that follows a group of female adventurers such as "Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage" and "Betty the Hippy Hobbit Thief."
