Independent Publishers Group and Itasca Books have both signed former Small Press Distribution clients to new distribution deals. IPG has taken on nine new publishers, while Itasca has picked up five. IPG and Itasca, a division of Bookmobile, are two of a small number of distributors taking on SPD publishers following the abrupt closure of SPD in March.
The new publishers joined IPG following its presentation to the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (CLMP), held last month, and subsequent virtual open house. To help publishers defray some of the costs associated with moving to a new distributor, IPG said that it is working on a plan to consolidate and ship the inventory of its new publishers from both Ingram and Publishers Storage and Shipping warehouses to IPG's facility.
IPG will distribute the following publishers worldwide (unless otherwise noted), effective July 1:
- Black Lawrence Press
- Blackwater Press
- Bull City Press
- Chax Press
- Grid Books
- Marsh Hawk Press
- Ronsdale Press (excluding Canada)
- Roof Books
- Sinister Wisdom
The five new clients that joined Itasca Books last week are Epiphany Magazine, IF SF Publishing, River River Books, Rescue Press, and Threadsuns Press. With the addition of five new publishers, Itasca is now doing distribution for 13 former SPD clients.
