Open Road Integrated Media has acquired RosettaBooks, the e-book publisher founded in 2001 by Arthur Klebanoff to publish e-book editions of backlist titles. The purchase includes a catalog of more than 700 e-books, including Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William L. Shirer, and I Am Legend by Richard Matheson.
Open Road acquired RosettaBooks from the private equity firm MEP Capital, which bought a controlling interest in the Rosetta e-book catalog from Klebanoff in 2021. MEP Capital is also a minority investor in Open Road.
Since the deal with MEP, Klebanoff has served as a consultant, advisor, and the point of contact for Rosetta authors and agents, a role he will continue to hold. At Open Road, Klebanoff will work with company SVP and publisher Christine Gillespie.
“I look forward to continuing as the steward of Rosetta’s titles,” said Klebanoff in a statement, adding that he considers Open Road to be “the ideal home for our authors and their works.”
RosettaBooks has been an Open Road client for more than seven years, and its marketing support of the publisher’s titles will continue uninterrupted.
“I look forward to working more closely with Arthur to grow sales and build on the great legacy of these books through our innovative marketing platform,” said Gillespie.
