Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group and sister company National Book Network announced plans to become pilot clients of DocZone, an XML content management system, for a new pricing model designed for publishers. DocZone offers push-button publishing to book, PDF, HTML, and ePub formats.

Under, Pay Per Page, the DocZone's new pricing model, a publisher's editorial and production team receives full-access to all the system's authoring, editing, workflow, indexing and control capabilities and will only be charged for final pages produced.

Stephen Driver, RLPG v-p of production services said RLPG has seen "tremendous" cost-savings and improved turnaround time using the system for its book, ePub and XML production needs. "In our pilot testing with DocZone, we saw the time for PDF proofs drop from a week to just a few minutes," Driver said. "With the same amount of money as we have traditionally budgeted just for offshore composition services, we now have a complete content management and automated publishing environment."
