Disney Publishing Worldwide has named Emily Meehan executive editor for Disney-Hyperion Books. Meehan will acquire and edit young adult novels as well as middle grade and picture books for the Disney-Hyperion list. Meehan was formerly executive editor of Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, where she developed books and series such as Elixir by Hilary Duff and the Hush, Hush trilogy by Becca Fitzpatrick. Meehan also edited picture books, middle grade fiction, and cookbooks. She began her career as an editorial assistant at S&S in 2000.
Laura Mazer has been named executive editor for Soft Skull Press. Mazer will also continue in her current role as managing editor for all the Counterpoint imprints. As executive editor, Mazer will manage acquisitions and operations for Soft Skull, and will acquire new projects for Soft Skull. Before joining Counterpoint, she was managing editor of Seal Press.
Lauren Lavelle has joined Scribner as a senior publicist. She was previously at Doubleday.
